Type 2 diabetes, or non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM) makes up the majority of diabetes cases. It’s estimated that around 13 million in the USA suffer from Type 2. Unlike Type I, Type II progresses at a slow pace. It can creep along and be unnoticed for years. For this reason, Type 2 diabetes is beginning to be called the “stealth disease.” This type of diabetes can walk around with a person from day to day and they will begin to believe it’s a normal process of their life. Well, I have news for you, it’s not and it’s very lethal if left untreated. If you notice any of the symptoms below, you should visit the doctor immediately. Untreated cases of diabetes account for most of the cases of fatalities of diabetes. Type 2 Diabetes Symptoms » » »

Your body needs carbohydrates to keep it going. Carbohydrates, a form of energy, are broken down into a simple sugar called glucose, which every cell in your body needs to survive. Glucose passes from the small intestine into the bloodstream. Cells require the hormone insulin, produced by the pancreas, which allows glucose to pass from the blood into cells. In type 2 diabetes, the body’s cells are resistant to the actions of insulin and the pancreas produces too little insulin. Glucose builds up in the blood and spills into the urine. High blood glucose levels cause the health problems, such as eye and kidney disease, associated with diabetes. Type 2 Diabetes Symptoms » » »

Type 2 diabetes can be a “silent” disease, which means that you may have it and not know you do. One of the most common things that occurs with type 2 diabetes is that you may begin to experience symptoms such as tingling in your fingers or toes (neuropathy), blurred vision, or chest pains or shortness of breath. Again, as with any troublesome symptoms, you should see your doctor.
Diabetes is a condition that occurs when the pancreas fails to produce enough insulin. Some people are born with this condition or has the onset of diabetes at an early age. This is called juvenile diabetes or type 1. Type 1 diabetes usually requires insulin injections. The onset of diabetes later in life is called type 2. Type 2 diabetes can be treated and in most cases prevented with simple lifestyle changes. What Causes Type 2 Diabetes » » »
